SUMMARY:Thanksgiving Porch Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Hello\, My name is Hunter Madden and I am once again running a food drive. If you are able to help\, please consider purchasing non-perishable items for distribution in Thanksgiving Food Boxes at Foothill Unity Center. Their wish list for this food drive is specific to all the fixings for a traditional holiday meal at home: canned yams/sweet potatoes\, mini marshmallows\, gravy packets/jars\, corn muffin mix\, stuffing\, instant mashed potatoes\, cranberry sauce\, cake mix\, jello pudding\, cooking oil\, shortening\, flour\, sugar\, canned pumpkin pie mix\, dried spices and seasonings. They will be providing holiday meal boxes including fresh meat and dessert the week of Thanksgiving to over 1400 families and homebound seniors in the San Gabriel Valley. For more information on their services\, please visit their website www.foothillunitycenter.org.\n\nIn addition to the food drive\, we are accepting donations of gently used children’s books and stuffed animals for ages 0-18 to be donated to Homeboy Industries for their holiday party in December. Founded by Father Greg Boyle\, Homeboy Industries in downtown Los Angeles provides support and training to men and women who were formerly incarcerated or involved in gangs. For more information on how they have changed lives and helped the community\, please visit their website www.homeboyindustries.org\n\nWe will have social distancing procedures in place for all drop offs to ensure everyone’s safety. We will be wearing masks and gloves to accept donations on our front porch at 203 Columbia Street in Pasadena on Saturday. If you would like to participate but can’t drop off Saturday morning\, just email me another time this week to set up a drop off. Or I’d be happy to drive to your house to pick up any food\, book\, or stuffed animal donations.\n\n\nAnything you give would be greatly appreciated!\n\nWhat: Porch Food Drive benefiting Foothill Unity Center and Porch Book and Stuffed Animal Drive benefiting Homeboy Industries\nWho: Hosted by Hunter Madden representing Scouts BSA\, Greater Los Angeles Area Council\nWhen:  Saturday\, November 14\, 9am-12pm\nWhere: 203 Columbia Street\, Pasadena 91105 (northwest corner of Columbia St and Pasadena Ave)\, street parking available right in front of the house\nHow: Contactless drop off\, physical distance marked off\, masks required\nWhy: People in our community need our help now more than ever before

DESCRIPTION:Hello Troop 355! \nMy name is Matthew Yam and I am a rising senior at Harvard-Westlake high school. I will be carrying out my eagle project the weekend of August 12-13 at the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House\, and I would greatly appreciate your help! \nThe Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization that houses families caring for sick children in need of hospital attention until the family can get back on their feet. Once families are ready to support themselves\, a new family moves in. \nMy project will consist of improving the backyard by refinishing a wooden swing set and replanting planter boxes with fresh fruits and vegetables. We will also teach the kids how to grow and tend to their own plants. The motive here is to upgrade the backyard enough so that the kids will have incentive to play there. Right now\, the children like to play in the driveway\, and having them play in the backyard instead will take them out of harm’s way. \nThe Details: \nDate and Time: Weekend of August 12 and 13\, 9:00am-5:00pm both days. \nAddress: 763 S Pasadena Ave\, Pasadena\, CA 91105 (Pasadena Ronald McDonald House) \nMaterials: Closed-toed shoes\, clothing you are not worried about getting a little paint on\, hats\, sunscreen safety goggles if you have them. \nLunch (In-n-out!)\, drinks\, and refreshments will be provided. \nPlease text or email me if you are planning to come. Even if you don’t RSVP\, feel free to come by to help out if you’ve got some spare time. This will be a great opportunity to serve your community\, get your hours in\, and get some words of wisdom from the older guys! \nAll the best\, \nMatthew YamFlaming Arrows patrolCell: (626) 437-5323Email: matthew.yam12@gmail.com
